Psychoeducational Groups

Psychoeducational Groups are groups, of eight to ten people, ages 5 and up, in which group members are provided with information about specific issues. They may also teach healthy coping skills. These groups are led by a qualified therapist who directs sessions and sets goals. Bonds between group members are important here, though the therapist provides most of the content through instruction. In this type of group therapy, the therapist takes on the role of teacher. Topics in Psychoeducational groups include topics such as Anger Management, Positive Thinking Skills, Stress Management, etc.

Life Skills
Groups

Life Skills Groups are groups, of eight to ten people, designed to allow individuals, ages 5 and older, to hone in on skills that can be used in everyday life. These capabilities will enable them to become more in control over things that might precipitate old behaviors by improving coping skills and knowing how to enhance relationships. Life skills group include topics such as Self-Care, Chores, Money Management, Meal Planning, etc.

Social Skills
Groups

Social Skills Groups are small groups, of eight to ten kids or adolescents, ages 5-16, led by a therapist who teaches the children and adolescents how to interact appropriately with others their age. They can help kids learn conversational, friendship, and problem-solving skills. They can also be useful in teaching children and adolescents to control their emotions and understand other people’s perspectives. Children and adolescents will learn important skills that they can use the rest of their lives. This includes learning how to: Greet others, Start and maintain a conversation, Respond to others, Share and take turns, Ask for help, etc.
